Indian filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has announced plans to revive the beloved Munna Bhai franchise, with Sanjay Dutt returning to his iconic role.

Rajkumar revealed he has five half-finished scripts for Munna Bhai 3, including Munna Bhai LLB, Munna Bhai Chal Base, and Munna Bhai Chale Amreeka. However, he's determined to surpass the previous films' success. "The next installment has to get better," he stated.

"I spent six months on a script, reached the interval, and it just wouldn’t go beyond that," Rajkumar explained. He admitted that finding a unique storyline is challenging, saying, "Over the course of 100 years of cinema, everything has been said." Despite this, Hirani is optimistic, stating, "But yeah, I am working on that idea."

The director acknowledged Sanjay Dutt's eagerness to revisit his character, joking that the actor might "come home and threaten" him to complete the project. Rajkumar prioritizes the film, citing Sanjay Dutt's enthusiasm.

Munna Bhai 3 was initially titled Munna Bhai Chale America but was shelved following Sanjay Dutt's conviction and imprisonment.

Rajkumar Hirani now aims to create a memorable experience, building upon the success of Munna Bhai MBBS (2003) and Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006).

The Director's filmography boasts successes like 3 Idiots, PK, Sanju, and Dunki. He stressed the importance of quality over rushing the project.
